PROGRAMS OVERVIEW
Our programs encompass the philosophies of Maria Montessori to
provide a carefully planned, stimulating environment to help
children develop an excellent foundation for creative learning.
The learning materials and programmed activities are geared
to help the children foster:
-
curiosity
-
a love of learning
-
satisfaction
-
self-confidence
-
concentration
-
initiative
-
persistence.
The structured environment fosters inner security and a sense of order in the children while allowing them the freedom to develop their creative intelligence and imagination.
The Montessori curriculum looks at the Pre-Primary (toddlers and twos) program as a child between eighteen and thirty-six months. It is a period characterized by the need to explore everything, move, and develop large motor coordination and strength. We believe that, at this age, there is a huge expansion into language. The Montessori toddler develops the capacity to create symbols, images, and concepts and becomes aware of him/herself as a separate and independent person.
The Montessori Primary program is a unique cycle of learning designed to take advantage of the child's sensitive years between three and six when s/he can develop an early enthusiasm for learning. This is the key to becoming a truly educated person. Emphasis is placed on developing sensory/motor skills, awareness of the physical environment, and social development in non-competitive surroundings. Once the child begins the program, it is expected that s/he will continue through the 1st grade readiness year.
